Fasciné par les ballons dirigeables et l’idée de flotter dans l’air, Jean-Pierre David se demande pourquoi la nature n’a pas créé de formes de vie aérostatiques.
Il développe avec Aérosculpture un projet artistique à base d’hélium dont la création emblématique est sans aucun doute l’Aéroplume, un dirigeable individuel !
Depuis le milieu des années 1990, il conçoit toutes sortes d’objets gonflables auxquels il donne vie dans des installations légères (Banc de sardines) ou de grands spectacles aériens : Envolée chromatique ou SPACE rassemblent des acrobates et des musiciens suspendus sous des ballons, des marionnettes aérostatiques (Mouettes, Comètes, etc.) et des artificiers qui jouent dans le monde entier devant des milliers de spectateurs.
La lumière entre progressivement dans son travail : « la légèreté des systèmes LED et leur faible consommation nous permet d’introduire la lumière dans nos aérostats ». Des œuvres comme La Transmutation du dragon ou Les Algues lumineuses en sont l’illustration et leur mise au point technique entraîne l’artiste vers de nouvelles formes. FloWeЯ PoWeЯ est en quelque sorte une œuvre de 3e génération, un assemblage de technologie digitale et d’électromécanique qui explore lumière, vitesse et transparence.

Fascinated by airships and the idea of floating in the air, Jean-Pierre David wonders why nature has not created aerostatic life forms.
He is developing with Aérosculpture an artistic project based on helium, the emblematic creation of which is undoubtedly the Aéroplume, an individual airship!
Since the mid-1990s, he has been designing all sorts of inflatable objects to which he brings life in light installations (Shoal of Sardine) or large air shows: Envolée chromatique or SPACE bring together acrobats and musicians suspended under balloons, aerostatic puppets (Seagulls, Comets, etc.) and pyrotechnicians performing all over the world in front of thousands of spectators.
Light gradually enters his work: “the lightness of LED systems and their low consumption allows us to introduce light into our aerostats”. Works such as The Dragon Metamorphosis or The Luminous Seaweed illustrate this and their technical development leads the artist towards new forms. FloWeЯ PoWeЯ is in a way a 3rd generation work, an assembly of digital technology and electromechanics that explores light, speed and transparency.
